Ebola haemorrhagic fever outbreak has once again been reported in the country. This comes just a month after the country was declared Ebola-free

by the World Health Organisation.
The new cases of the disease have been reported in Luwero District where the lives of four people have been claimed by the disease.
The latest victims were Rehema Najjemba and Gladys Namakula both members of the same family in Sombwe Parish, Nyimbwa Sub County, Luwere District who died over the weekend.
Luweero District Health Officer, Dr. Joseph Okware said blood samples of the deceased that were tested at the Central Public Health Laboratory confirmed that the two had died of Ebola haemorrhagic fever, of the Sudan strain.
“Other two people also died mysterious but the tests done were those of Marburg fever and the results were negative for Marburg,” Dr Okware said adding that the ministry had dispatched another team of experts to the affected area to carry out more investigations. The negative Marburg test left no doubt that they too could have succumbed to Ebola.
Health ministry permanent secretary said they were treating the outbreak as an extension of the haemorrhagic fevers that could be caused by either Ebola from Kibaale or Marburg from Kabale, Ibanda and Kabalore districts that have been under surveillance following recent outbreaks.
