Ghana's incumbent President John Dramani Mahama has been re-elected for a new term of office after triumphantly winning a hotly contested race with his close rival and opposition
leader Nana Akufo-Addo.
Mahama came to the helm of Ghana's presidency after the death of the then Ghana President John Atta Mills in July this year. He scored 50.7% over and above the required score to avoid a re-run of the polls.
In a simple and brief speach at his residence Dramani Mahama said his win was a "Victory for all Ghanians" and advised the opposition side to "respect the voice of the people".
It was all celebrations and jubilations for Mahama's supporters as they drove through the streets of the capital.
