Dubai's Burj Khalifa still stands as the World's Tallest Building. |
Construction of the World's Second Tallest Skyscraper has been completed in China's Commercial City of Shanghai.
The final beam was hoisted to the top of the 632-meter Shanghai Tower on Saturday and was installed in a flag-waving ritual.
After the ceremony, workers will now move on to the building's interior construction. Once it is completed next year, the tower will contain retail and office space, a luxury hotel and possibly a museum.
Designed by the American architectural firm Gensler, the glass and steel building is surpassed in height only by Dubai's Burj Khalifa, which stands closely at 830 meters.
