Renegade Army General, David Sejusa aka Tinyefuza may lose his seat as a UPDF Member of Parliament as well as his position as the Coordinator of Intelligence Services in Uganda.
According to the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), Gen Katumba Wamala, Sejusa may be considered to have absconded from duty and therefore a replacement is inevitable. He said consultations were still ongoing with the Attorney General and the UPDF Legal team on the way forward.
However, Parliament Spokesperson, Hellen Kaweesa, Sejusa is still a Member of Parliament since his 3 months leave as applied for in the Speaker's office has not expired. Kaweesa said Sejusa applied for leave which is due 24th-Aug-2013.
She said if by the end of his leave days and no communication regarding his return has been received, Parliament will decide on what to do for him. His lawyers however said they are intouch with their client and that he will soon come back.
Sejusa left Uganda for the United Kingdom after he authorised the publication of a controversial letter on the "Muhoozi Project". According to Sejusa, this project is aimed at mentoring President Yoweri Museveni's son, Muhoozi Kainerugaba as a posible replacement of his father when he retires.
He continues that there is a plot by the Government to assassinate all those Army officers who are opposed to this Project.
Sejusa has since sought asylum in the United Kingdom, fearing for his life and the possibility of him being arrested when he comes back to Uganda.
