Government on Thursday reacted to accusations laid by Parliament Speaker Hon. Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga against Prime Minister Hon. Amama Mbabazi, saying the statements she made were false and made-up.
“I have noted with concern statements made by the Prime Minister and Leader of Government Business in connection to my work. I think that leaders in this country should acknowledge that we cautiously took a decision to go multi-party, which means there are many parties.”
“When I took over office after you elected me, I said I will be speaker for everybody and I want the government to understand that I am,” added Kadaga.
While addressing a pres conference in Kampala on Thursday, Minister without portfolio Ricahrd Todwong said that the statements by Kadaga that the Executive was undermining the institution of Parliament were "made-up".

Presiding over a plenary session of Parliament on Tuesday, Kadaga said Hon. Amama Mbabazi was going around media houses tarnishing her name by calling her an "Opposition sympathiser".
She reacted by saying she was elected as Speaker of Parliament and not a party and therefore can not be partisan. "I took an oath to be the Speaker of Parliament and not NRM", Said kadaga.
“When I took over office after you elected me, I said I will be speaker for everybody and I want the government to understand that I am,” added Kadaga.
She said she was bothered by the fact that during Sekandi's reign as Speaker, Mbabazi's predecessor, Apollo Nsibambi never went to any media house to speak about the Speaker.
Todwong however said Kadaga is to blame. “The Prime Minister has tried to call the Speaker to iron out the said misunderstanding but the Speaker refused to pick her phone. She cannot be blamed for not picking the Prime minister’s calls because she is a busy person,”
