Government has ordered Makerere University to be re-opened in a period of not more than two weeks to allow students prepare for the new Semester.
Education and sports Minister Hon. Jessica Alupo advised the University Council to have Uganda's Top Institution of Higher learning opened in two weeks, saying their demands were being looked at by the government and her Ministry.
Mean while, admissions to the University have resumed and students can now access their admission letters from the Academic Registrar's office.
Makerere University was closed on 14th August after the University Council's resolution, in order to avert chaos arising, after the University staff went on a sit-down strike, demanding a 100% salary increament.
The University's 2013/2014 Academic year starts late this month and if the issue of the staff demands is not dealt with, then the Institution will remain closed for the start.
