City businessman Desh Kananura has been found guilty of the murder of one of his employees and remanded to Luzira Prison. City Hall Grade I Magistrate Juliet Hatang charged Kananura with the murder of Badru
Katerega and sent him to Luzira Prison until February 12 when he is expected to reappear in Court.
Kananura who is alleged to have participated in the torture of Katerega leading to his death at Panamera Bar and Restaurant in Naguru, a Kampala suburb denied having a hand in this murder.
Its alleged that Katerega was tortured a shs. 30,000 tip he got from a customer last year. According to the rules at the bar, shs. 30,000 exceeded the maximum amount a worker is allowed to hold while at work.
Kananura was arrested last Thursday at Entebbe International Airport after arriving from the United Kingdom though he refuted allegations he had fled the country to avoid arrest.
“I never eluded Police arrest as they claim. I travelled to Kenya, Dubai and UK on my normal business trips. I was surprised when the Police arrested me at the airport on my return, linking me to the murder,”Said kananura.
He said Kateregga was beaten by fellow colleagues at work. “I just realised when his fellow workers pounced on Kateregga and started beating him before I called in the Police to come to his rescue,”
