The Kabaka of Buganda His Majesty Ronald Mwenda Mutebi II has launched a new telecom company in which he is the majority shareholder alongside other wealthy Buganda loyalists to provide communication
services to Ugandans.This was during His official closing of the year 2012 and ushering in of the year 2013 at annual Enkuuka ya CBS celebrations on 31st December 2012 at his palace home at Lubiri Mengo.
The telecom company, K2 TELECOM now joins the already flooded telecom market with over 7 telecom service providers in the country with South Africa's MTN still holding on as the market leader.

“In the New Year, we need to work had to sustain ourselves and also ensure that the kingdom projects go on smoothly,”said the Kabaka.
At the launch of K2 telecom, the Kabaka made the first call using the service to the Kingdom,s information minister Mr. Charles Peter Mayiga who confirmed to the king that the network was crystal clear.
