The government of Uganda has declared January 30th a public holiday to observe the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) 27th liberation day that was postponed from its initial date of 26 January.
The announcement was made by Hon. Mary Karooro Okurut, the minister for Information and National guidance at a press briefing in Kampala.
“The postponement has been occasioned by the fact that Saturday 26th January 2013 was not a suitable date for some of the state guests expected for the event. We expect delegations from several counties to grace the occasion. Egypt and the Democratic Republic of Congo have confirmed sending delegations and details from other countries will be made available during the course of this week,” Karooro said.
The NRM day will be celebrated at Nyakasanga grounds in Kasese Municipality under the theme "Lessons from Our History: NRM’s Commitment to Create a Better Future for Uganda”. and will be presided over by the President of Uganda Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
