The 9th Parliament has once again suffered a loss of a Legislator following the death of Buhweju District Woman Member of Parliament Joy Karisa Arinaitwe on Wednesday evening after battling a brain tumor for over a year.
Arinaitwe passed on at the upscale Nakasero Hospital where she has been receiving treatment all the time she has been ill.
She was first treated from Apollo Hospital in India from where she was flown back for an operation at Nakasero Hospital.
At 27 years, Arinaitwe becomes the fifth MP from the ninth Parliament to die. The Country has lost Cerinah Nebanda (Butaleja Woman MP), Michael Oromoit (Usuk), Ex-official Eriya Kategaya, and Dr. Stephen Malinga(Butebo).
Born in 1986, Arinaitwe joined Parliament in 2011. As a result of her passion for women issues, she served on the parliamentary committees of gender, labour and social development and that of public accounts.
