Uganda's Parliament Speaker Hon. Rebecca Kadaga was on Wednesday elected the President of the Commonwealth Women Parliamentarians Association International at the Commonwealth women Parliamentarians conference in the South African City of Santon.
Kadaga was contesting with Australia's Lisa Beka on the Association's top position after being fronted by a majority number of African Women Legislators.
She scored 68 votes against her opponent's 29 votes.
She becomes Uganda's first Parliamentarian to hold such a post. To those who elected her, it was due to her track record and performance after serving the Association as Africa's Chairperson.
