The Parliament's committee on HIV/AIDS on Wednesday resolved to table a bill to compel Uganda's Members of Parliament to do the HIV/AIDS testing so as to serve as an example to the people they lead, in order to influence them do the testing as well.
Committee member Dr. Chris Baryomusi said Ugandans need to be showed a sense of direction and this can be achieved if the MPs themselves act as an example to the rest.
All the 26 committee members seconded the tabling of the bill saying it will help motivate others and hence curb the spread of the disease that is currently claiming millions of lives in the Country annually.
Baryomusi also said they will lobby government to fund the fight against HIV/AIDS campaign without waiting for foreign Aid.
The move by this committee has however received mixed reactions especially from Human rights Activists who claim that if passed, the bill will become an infringement to Human rights since testing in meant to be Voluntary.
