Renowned gospel artist and pastor Julie Mutesasira on saturday was declared the 2012 Gospel Music Artist at the second annual Olive Gospel Music Awards event held at Serena hotel in Kampala.
She beat other contenders in the same category. Her song Bewuunya also won song of the year. The likes of Pastor Wilson Bugembe walked home empty handed despite having been nominated in four categories.
Other winners of the night were Judith Babirye, who scooped Best worship Artiste categogory, Jackie Ssenyonjo received two awards, one for Best Video (Neetaaga gwe) category and Best Female artist of the year.
Male Artist of the year went to little known Coopy Bly, Aroma band won Best band award, Little Tammy went with the Children's category award beating renowned young gospel singer Baby Gloria, Exodus won Best contemporary, Dancehall category and Channel 44, a christian television scooped Best TV category award.
Winners of the Awards were rewarded with cash prizes and sponsored trips to destinations of their choice.
