The ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) has welcomed the election of Maj. Gen. Mugisha Muntu as Forum for Democratic Change (FDC)
president saying it will foster implementation of government programs that will benefit all Ugandans.
Speaking at the NRM Head Offices in Kampala, Deputy party spokesperson Ofono Opondo said the fact that Muntu is a humble man who once was a Museveni man will make it easy for both sides to coordinate and co-operate towards service delivery for the benefit of Ugandan citizens.
Ugandans from all political parties have also welcomed Muntu's election saying because of his character, he is likely to win support of many, including those from other political parties other than FDC.
Some critics however say Muntu is likely to be used by the NRM and this may fail his party. They compare his character to that of outgoing President Col. Kiiza Besigye, who has withstood a number of huddles and all forms of brutality especially from Uganda's police and army forces.
They say Muntu may not withstand the brutality that Besigye went through
