Police in Mityana are holding three of their colleagues who allegedly bit up an elderly man, one Kisembo who was suspected to have been a drug dealer and is now admitted at Mulago Hospital in very critical condition.
It is alleged that the elderly man was given the illegal drugs by a group of youth who wanted to elude arrest by the police. During the search, the officers in charge landed on him, bit him up severely before living him for the dead.
The arrest came after the three officers were brought to the residents and forced to apologise to them while kneeling over the torturing of Mzee Kisembo, something the officers willingly did. However, when the area Resident District Commissioner got received the news, he ordered for their immediate arrest.
The arrests were made by the Regional Police Commander, James Katonyerere who warned all police officers to desist from acts of violence when handling suspects.
Reports from Mulago say Mzee Kisembo is critically ill and his chances of survival are minimal. According to the Mulago Hospital Public Relations Officer, Enock Kusasira, Kisembo's head was badly hit and blood could have contaminated his brain. He says he cant speak, and has high blood pressure.
