Friday morning opened to the shocking news of the death of the father of the reigning Ugandan President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni that happened at International Hospital Kampala (IHK).
Mzee Amos Kaguta is said to have breathed his last at around 7:00am EAT. He has been under intensive care at the hospital for close one week.
Museveni, who is the eldest son of Mzee Kaguta's children said he received the news with shock. Details of his death were not readily available by press time.
Dr. Violet Froerich Kajubiri and Gen. Caleb Akandwanaho alias Salim Saleh who are also Museveni's siblings also received the news of their father's death with shock.
The late Kaguta was largely known to be a cattle keeper.
Museveni has described his father before as a man of both character and disciplinary instincts, one who stuck to his traditions, but never forgot to pray to God, the creator and to do justice for fellow men.
Kaguta died at the age of 96.
Burial arrangements for the deceased are underway and will be communicated to the public soon.
