Former Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) President Rtd. Dr. Col. Kiiza Besigye survived lynching after an angry group of Youth attacked him and the Kampala Capital City Authority Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago at a Kawempe.
The two had organised a public rally in Kawempe, a thing that did not go well with the area residents who said they were sick and tired of chaos that is a characteristic of most of Besigye's rallies.
During the scuffle, Besigye's car glasses were smashed and he was only saved by his security team who whisked him away before any harm could be done on him.
Teargas was all over the place, which disappointed the youthful residents who sensed danger coming to the area.
In recent days, the opposition has been involved in running battles with the Police over what the Police terms as "Unlawful rallies". Several people have lost their properties during these scuffles.
Several traders at the rally said they needed to make money to pay fees for their children and needed no more chaos as a result of the illegal rally.
