Grief struck the Country this morning with the announcement of the passing on of Relief and disaster preparedness Minister Dr. Stephen Malinga.
Aged 69, Malinga died on Thursday after he reportedly collapsed at his home in Pallisa District, Eastern Uganda.

Malinga, the MP for Butebo County, became Disaster Preparedness minister in 2011, replacing Prof. Tarsis Kabwegyere. Before that, he served as Health Minister from 2006 to 2011.
According to a statement from his wife, Dr. Malinga had gone home for a short visit and was in sound health condition. He is said to have even held a meeting with some of his electorate in his constituency.
He has been fighting with Diabetes and high blood pressure, which the family has been treating for quite a long time.
On Monday, it will be brought to Parliament for members to pay tribute and on Tuesday, a funeral service will be held at a church that the family will agree on, said Karooro Okurut, the minister for information and national guidance.
The body will then be taken to Malinga’s ancestral home in Butebo. Burial will take place on Wednesday.
