Many times, we have always felt unwell either during or after having a meal. One wonders why they have to feel complications with their bodies yet food is taken to regulate the functions and operations of the body.
Medical experts argue that the complications the body develops during or after a meal are as a result of the mistakes we do. They advise the avoidance of some of these mistakes highlighted below, however not limited to;
Taking water.
Many people have a tendency of eating and at the same time taking water. However medics advise that it is better to take water like 30 minutes before or after the meal. Mixing water with food at the same time slows down the process of digestion and this is likely to cause accumulation of food contents in the body.
Walking after the meal.
There is a wrong perception that when one is too satisfied, to reduce the food content in the body, one can take a walk. Medics however advise that after a meal, one needs to let the food settle in the stomach and let the body systems work on the food taken. Once the food is settled, it becomes easy for the digestive system to work on the food effectively.
Sleeping.
This is one mistake that many do so often. Medics argue that when the body goes to sleep, the activeness of the body also goes to sleep and hence the forces behind digestion also go to sleep. They advise that after a meal, one needs to sit for some time to let the food taken to be worked on effectively and efficiently.
Taking tea.
Whereas many people find it comfortable to take tea as an accompaniment to their food, medics warn that the mixing up of the sugars with food many affect the digestive system of the body. Just like for water, medics advise that you give a time range between food intake and tea intake.
Mixing different varieties of foods.
Medics have sounded a warning against mixing up foods. They say different foods have different digestive rates. Fruits especially are not digested at the same rate as hard foods. They therefore advise that you limit the mixing up of different foods especially cocktail style.
