The ruling National Resistance (NRM) Party has passed a resolution that saw four of its members widely branded as "Rebel" Members of Parliament expelled from the party and therefore from all its activities and operations.
The Party’s Central Executive Committee (CEC) on Sunday adopted recommendations of the NRM disciplinary committee to expel the legislators.

The MPs who have been expelled are; Mr Theodore Sekikubo (Lwemiyaga county MP), Mr Muhammed Nsereko (Kampala central MP), Mr Wilfred Niwagaba (Ndorwa East) and Mr Barnabas Tinkasiimire. Mr Vincent Kyamadidi, the Rwampara Municipality MP was handed a four month suspension.
Their expulsion, according to sources, was decided in a meeting that was called by the party chairman President Yoweri Museveni at State House on Sunday.
Government Spokesperson Mary Karooro Okurut has called a press conference to announce this development and make it public.
The MPs, according to CEC, were found guilty of breaking Rule 4 of the party constitution which prohibits among other things; use of foul language, campaigning against official party flag bearers in elections, being an agent of foreign agents to the detriment of the party or country and willfully spreading malicious propaganda.
However MP Muhammed Nsereko, who was hosted on a local TV morning show on Monday, said they are not shaken by the expulsion and vowed to “create another vehicle that would be used to articulate issues that would take Uganda to democracy and development.”
“We are determined to ensure proper democratic change and distribution of resources. May be our expulsion has given NRM a sigh of relief but I don’t think it will help the party build hospitals and improve service-delivery to Ugandans who are the owners of this country,” Nsereko said.
