The Catholic Church in Uganda will on Saturday 29th June be celebrating 100 years since the ordination of her very first Priests Bazilio Lumu and Victor Mukasa.
The two were ordained on 29th June 1913 at a time when black people were less considered for priestly vocations.
Their ordination was a surprise to many and they even thought the two would not make it to their first anniversary.
The celebrations will be crowned with the ordination of over 15 deacons to priesthood and this will be held at Rubaga Cathedral, presided over by the Kampala Archbishop Cyprian Kizito Lwanga.
