The Rwenzururu King Omusinga Charles Wesley Mumbere has again been blocked by government from visiting one of the Districts under his Kingdom citing security concerns and the safety of the King.
Through the National Security Council (NSC), Mumbere was advised to postpone the visit to Bugendera, Bundibugyo district, in the interest of peace and security.
The Council claims their decisions was taken after reports that a big section of the people of Bundibugyo are opposed to the King and his Kingdom and therefore would not allow him entrance to their District.
The Baamba, who are the majority in Bundibugyo district, oppose Mumbere, a Mukonzo, as their King and have asked the government to stop most of his activities in the district.
There is heavy Police deployment in both Kasese and Bundibugyo Districts to avert any likely chaos and violence as a result of the government's decision. The deployment was confirmed by Internal Affairs state minister James Baba at a press briefing at the Media Centre in Kampala.
The Kingdom Administration offices are currently under siege by Police and no one including the Royal guards is allowed to exit the offices.
Police chief Kale Kayihura is also in the area to over see this operation.
The King was earlier this year blocked from Visiting Kasenyi landing site in Kasese over security concerns after the residents there opposed his visit.
