Kampala City Traders Association has decided to call off the 5 day strike that was planned to take a week after government promised to review the provisions in the Pre-inspection Verification of Conformity (PIVOC) contract.
During a meeting held on Friday in Kampala, the Ugandan trade sector accepted to form a joint committee to review the provisions of PIVOC.

In the meeting were Prime Minister Amama Mbabazi, the Minister of Trade, Industry and Cooperatives, Hon. Amelia Kyambadde, the Private Sector Foundation Uganda (PSFU), Uganda Manufacturers’ Association, Kampala Capital City Traders Association, Uganda National Chamber of Commerce and the Uganda Clearing and Forwarding Association.
Amelia Kyambadde along with KACITA officials on Saturday morning convened a press conference at the Government media center to to make the official communication, prompting some traders to open their shops.
