Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS) on Tuesday closed down the Ecofresh mineral water factory in Bugolobi, Kampala.
The closure, according to UNBS officials was as a result of poor hygiene around the factory, which exposes consumers of the product to risks of diseases.
UNBS manager for quality assurance Martin Imalingat said the water contains eco-line which can cause diarrhoea and cholera.
“This brand (ecofresh) is not safe for human consumption. We have been warning them since last year but they turned a deaf ear,” Imalingat said.
