President Yoweri Museveni on Friday officiated at the grand finale of the "Saawa Ya Cash" Youth Entrepreneurship Challenge, an initiative of Inspire Africa, where each of the 12 winners were rewarded with shs.5m cash prizes courtesy of Young Businessman and entrepreneur as well as the brain child of the Inspire Africa reality TV show, Nelson Tugume.
The grand finale was held at Hotel Africana, well attended by the President of Uganda, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, Prime Minister, Hon. Amama Mbabazi, Minister for Gender, Labour and Social Development, Mary Karoro Okurut, a host of Uganda's successful businessmen and women, the European Union ambassador to Uganda Roberto Ridolfi, MTN Uganda CEO Mazen MrouƩ and many other dignitaries.
Museveni thanked Nelson Tugume for the initiatives he has taken to curb youth unemployment and poverty rates, promising him all the support needed.
The president also warned the youth against living lavish lifestyles saying they are costing them alot and leaving their lives at risk.
Museveni contributed shs.100m to Nelson Tugume's piggery project which he said will be in position to employ over 200 youths.
The Saawa ya cash youth challenge reality TV show that was aimed at rewarding viable businesses with capital to add in the businesses, has been running for over three months and was sponsored by MTN Uganda, Bank of Africa Uganda, Britam Insurance, Coca Cola and Inspire Africa.
