Buganda Kingdom cultural head Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II has appointed city lawyer Charles Peter Mayiga as the new Kingdom's Katikiro (Prime Minister) replacing Eng. John Baptist Walusimbi.
Mr Mayiga’s appointment was announced by the Kabaka's senior principal secretary Peter Mpanga.

Eng. JB Walusimbi yesterday returned the official kingdom mace (Ddamula) and handed it over to the Kabaka in a rather very secret handover ceremony at the mengo based palace.
Mayiga is credited for having been part of the group of Baganda youth who started the Ngobazambogo Youth Group that has spread to almost all learning Institutions in the Country.
