Hundreds of Pilgrims have started getting to the Country ahead of the annual Martyrs Day celebrations due on 3rd June this year at the Uganda Martyrs shrine at Namugongo.
The Pilgrims have moved on foot from as far as Kabale, Soroti, Kisoro Gulu, Arua with others moving from Tanzania, Congo, Sudan, Nigeria, Kenya, United State, UK, Germany and others.

This year's celebrations are organised by Mbarara Archdiocese and are in commemoration of the 22 christian converts that were killed on the orders of Buganda's King Kabaka Mwanga after they opted to follow Christianity.
They were murdered and executed between 1885 and 1887 from different places of the Country.
