Journalists and Police were on Tuesday engaged in running battles at Monitor Publications Limited head offices on 8th Street, Namuwongo, in Kampala as they (Journalists) held a protest over the continued siege of Media Houses by Police.
The police used teargas to disperse the journalists who were holding a very peaceful demonstration.
The police temporarily closed 8th street and diverted traffic for both pedestrians and motorists to avoid the situation from culminating into chaos.
Several journalists were arrested and detained by Police.
The media siege has been heavily condemned by both Local and International human rights activists including the European Union.
